Last Tuesday, May 27, a session took place by Dr. Mònica Perna, professor at the UAB and researcher in research stay in our Department of Law, area of Commercial Law.

Under the title “The Responsible for the Depliegue: The position of responsibility in the use of AI systems and their relevance in the value chain within the framework of the RIA”, Dr. Perna analyzed the recent Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 on Artificial Intelligence (RIA), which represents a turning point in the European regulatory landscape by establishing a comprehensive legal framework for AI systems, both within the Union and in its relationship with third countries.

The intervention focused on the figure of the Deployment Manager, a new legal entity within the value chain of AI systems, which, despite not being a manufacturer or supplier, assumes specific obligations derived from the use or implementation of these systems under its authority. It is a key figure for the correct application of the regulation, with significant implications for commercial law and legal responsibility in technological environments.
