On May 19, the Department of Law hosted the lecture “The Use of Blockchain Technology and Private International Law”, delivered by Ferran Lambea González, a PhD candidate (FPU) at the University of Zaragoza, specializing in Private International Law. The session examined the challenges that blockchain technology poses to the field of Private International Law, focusing on jurisdictional conflicts, the application of law in decentralized environments, and the identification of parties involved in digital transactions. The discussion highlighted how the transnational and anonymous nature of blockchain calls into question traditional mechanisms of regulation and dispute resolution. The event concluded with an engaging debate on the potential for blockchain integration into current legal frameworks and the need forregulatory adaptation to ensure legal certainty in this evolving global context.
