On November 11, 2024, the FDET Boardroom hosted the lecture “Security? Control? Deterrence? The Functions of Strip Searches in Catalan Prisons” by Dr. Cristina Güerri, an expert in criminology and professor at Pompeu Fabra University.

Professors from various department areas attended the event and actively engaged in analyzing strip searches in Catalan prisons. Güerri presented unpublished data from the penitentiary administration on the frequency and context of these searches, questioning their role in practice and reflecting on their impact on the dignity of incarcerated individuals.
